The “Linglering” Questions

1/20 – update at end of post

Ask yourself this question.

What would have happened if the former Governor of Hawaii, Linda Lingle (R) had addressed the issue of obama’s long form birth certificate by stating, in no uncertain terms, the following:

“It was actually written, I am told, this is what our investigation is showing, it actually exists in the [State] archives, written down,”

But Linda Lingle never said this, because if she had, all hell would have broken loose.  It would have fed into the Birther narrative that something is amiss with the long form birth certificate.  One reason is because that statement refers to the record being in the State Archives.  Not in the Dept. of Health.

Here is what went down with Linda Lingle, and no, she never made a statement that SHE, herself, had seen and verified the elusive obama birth certificate.

Snip from American Thinker:

Why did Governor Lingle make the following statement, if she had never seen the actual certificate in an interview with Rabbi Schmuly Boteach on WABC Radio in New York (recording here):

“It’s been an odd situation,” Lingle said, referring to the continuing controversy over the disputed natural-born citizenship of Obama. “This issue kept coming up so much in the campaign, and again I think it’s one of those issues that is simply a distraction from the more critical issues that are facing the country.

“So I had my health director, who is a physician by background, go personally view the birth certificate in the birth records of the Department of Health, and we issued a news release at that time saying that the president was, in fact, born at Kapi’olani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. And that’s just a fact and yet people continue to call up and e-mail and want to make it an issue and I think it’s again a horrible distraction for the country by those people who continue this.”

The CURRENT Hawaii Governor, Neil Abercrombie (D) did issue that statement above to the StarAdvertiser in an editorial published Jan. 18, 2011.  And predictably it is causing a bit of a stir.

What is very interesting is this quote from the writer of the article:

(Abercrombie said there is a recording of the birth in the State Archives and he wants to use that.)

WND did an article on this, and there is a youtube vid about it.  The problem that I have with WND’s piece is,

I’ve read the StarAdvertiser article, and nowhere does it credit Applebottom with having actually searched in the DOH for the obama records.  He just admits to having found something in the State Archives.  That is if the SA writer didn’t “mis-quote.”

So, WND is just inserting their own take that because Neil A. doesn’t mention the Dept. Of Health, that the records aren’t there.  Or something like that.

Neil Abercrombie

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie suggested in an interview published today that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.

Abercrombie told the Honolulu Star Advertiser he was searching within the Hawaii Department of Health to find definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii, because the continuing eligibility controversy could hurt the president’s chances of re-election in 2012.

I have looked around and cannot find any thing directly connected to THIS (1/18/11) article that records Abercrombie as having said to the writer,

“he (Abercrombie) was searching within the Hawaii Department of Health to find definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii.”

I believe he indicated at a different interview that he intended to try doing just that, but unless this article originally did have that language, and was later altered (happens with the articles in the StarAd. frequently), then this WND piece and the youtube vid are just a little misleading as to the significance of Abercrombie’s statement in the 1/18/11 StarAd. piece.

In the DailyMail 1/20.  I do screenshots to preserve the content of the articles as they are at the time I read them.  Some publications, like the StarAdvertiser for example, will scrub articles, or chance the content after publishing online.  This article also refers to Ambercrumble mentioning the Dept. of Health :

And in the same interview Abercrombie suggested that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.

It appears that the StarAd. article may have indeed morphed before I had the chance to read it.

  1. Well, and I’ll have to read this further. Interesting, though! Might explain our problems with our so-called “wormy” president. Did you see that on Drudge?

    • Oh! You mean the stomach worm thing? Yes, I read that. More likely it is stress, I think the poor fella needs more time off. 😉

As to where the long form BC is housed – that is important. Very. A BC issued through the usual channels, regardless if the birth was in hospital, or at home, would have been registered with the DOH. A record would be maintained AT the Dept. of Health. If the birth was registered in the required fashion. I think I know some people who have more extensive research into this angle than I do. I’ve contacted them for their take on it.

  2. So what about a written-up BC, what does this mean?

    • “It was actually written, I am told, this is what our investigation is showing, it actually exists in the archives, written down,” Abercrombie said.

Hand written. It’s a weird way to describe such a record.

If born in a hospital, as obama expects the US public to believe, the birth record (original) would be contained on a form filled out in the hospital. The record issued by the DOH was TYPED. With the handwritten signatures of the parents and attending physician. So, since the record that the DOH sent out to the parents had their own signatures on it, that had to be a copy of what the hospital sent.
The Nordyke twins mama was shown holding her twin daughters photostatic copies of the long form BCs.
And this also supports my position that the permission to send the info on to the newspaper to be printed in a announcement was on a separate simple form that the parent signed.

  3. LOL, let me know if I need to expand on that.

  4. Could the record in the State Archives be the newspaper birth announcements?

The COLB says ‘filed on’ “date” instead of ‘accepted by Registrar’. Something required was missing from the filed birth record. Would an incomplete birth record be maintained in the State Archives? Would any citizen be allowed to search the State Archives and view the record?

    • I don’t know if the State Archive would have the original/copies of the list that went to the newspapers. I’m not sure that would be the sort of thing they would keep permanent record of. I am searching through some older material to see if I can figure out what all we found they did archive. By no means a complete list, just some of the things we were interested in following. Anyway, here is the link to the archives: They are usually quick about answering very general questions.

When both citizen researchers were at the Dept of Health, and asked about the difference in “filed and accepted”, each were told, “I don’t know”. TusnamiGeno was told, “I don’t know, I’ve never been asked that question before.” And he (Jesse) was a supervisor. I know that the DOH has been asked that question many times, I do not know if it ever got to his level though. I believe it had a different significance then than it does now. We have yet to be given a straight answer though.

  5. I was scanning the comments section on Thomas Lifson’s post yesterday at American Thinker and I found one particularly interesting

Having served a residency in obstetrics in a university hospital, I can speak to the usual and customary practice on labor and delivery units. And part of that practice is to maintain “the book”, in which each and every delivery is recorded along with details such as the mother’s name and age, baby’s gender and weight, type of delivery, etc. If, as alleged, Barack Obama truly was born in Kapiolani Hospital— which has been in business for over one hundred years— that birth will be in “the book”. Although the birth certificate is made “official” by state decree, it is still nothing more than data copied from the primary source, “the book”. So where is the book?

    • I can simply answer with what I know personally about how a announcement is sent to the paper. One way, is the parents are asked if they want it to be placed in the paper, that is usually at the same time that they are signing out of the hospital with baby. The parents filled out a simple form, or check a box on a form, and there you go. Another way is by personally requesting the paper to add an announcement, say if you live in a different town and want your friends to know, but don’t want to pay for a big ad. This is done all the time. Our local paper does this. I was born at home, but my mother had the announcement put in. Simple enough, especially back then when most businesses were more service oriented than now.
So, how did the obama announcements get in the paper? Well, if born in a local hospital, his mother could have signed the permission form. If born at home, whomever prepared the registration forms could have made the request for the announcement to be placed. Or a request could have been made directly with the paper.
Is that how those announcements got into the micro-films? I am not prepared to state that I believe it was one of those three simple, commonly used ways of submitting information to the newspapers, that resulted in the images in these micro-films.

  6. {“the book”. So where is the book?

I wonder if those books were sent to the State Archives or if they are maintained at the hospital? Hum.

  8. Governor Lingle, in the quote above, said something that is demonstrably untrue. Whether intentional or not, Lingle told a lie. And then CNN edited her words to cover up her lie and create their own lie.
