The “Linglering” Questions
1/20 – update at end of post
Ask yourself this question.
What would have happened if the former Governor of Hawaii, Linda Lingle (R) had addressed the issue of obama’s long form birth certificate by stating, in no uncertain terms, the following:
“It was actually written, I am told, this is what our investigation is showing, it actually exists in the [State] archives, written down,”
But Linda Lingle never said this, because if she had, all hell would have broken loose. It would have fed into the Birther narrative that something is amiss with the long form birth certificate. One reason is because that statement refers to the record being in the State Archives. Not in the Dept. of Health.
Here is what went down with Linda Lingle, and no, she never made a statement that SHE, herself, had seen and verified the elusive obama birth certificate.
Snip from American Thinker:
Why did Governor Lingle make the following statement, if she had never seen the actual certificate in an interview with Rabbi Schmuly Boteach on WABC Radio in New York (recording here):
“It’s been an odd situation,” Lingle said, referring to the continuing controversy over the disputed natural-born citizenship of Obama. “This issue kept coming up so much in the campaign, and again I think it’s one of those issues that is simply a distraction from the more critical issues that are facing the country.
“So I had my health director, who is a physician by background, go personally view the birth certificate in the birth records of the Department of Health, and we issued a news release at that time saying that the president was, in fact, born at Kapi’olani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. And that’s just a fact and yet people continue to call up and e-mail and want to make it an issue and I think it’s again a horrible distraction for the country by those people who continue this.”
The CURRENT Hawaii Governor, Neil Abercrombie (D) did issue that statement above to the StarAdvertiser in an editorial published Jan. 18, 2011. And predictably it is causing a bit of a stir.

What is very interesting is this quote from the writer of the article:
(Abercrombie said there is a recording of the birth in the State Archives and he wants to use that.)
WND did an article on this, and there is a youtube vid about it. The problem that I have with WND’s piece is,
I’ve read the StarAdvertiser article, and nowhere does it credit Applebottom with having actually searched in the DOH for the obama records. He just admits to having found something in the State Archives. That is if the SA writer didn’t “mis-quote.”
So, WND is just inserting their own take that because Neil A. doesn’t mention the Dept. Of Health, that the records aren’t there. Or something like that.

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie suggested in an interview published today that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.
Abercrombie told the Honolulu Star Advertiser he was searching within the Hawaii Department of Health to find definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii, because the continuing eligibility controversy could hurt the president’s chances of re-election in 2012.
“he (Abercrombie) was searching within the Hawaii Department of Health to find definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii.”
I believe he indicated at a different interview that he intended to try doing just that, but unless this article originally did have that language, and was later altered (happens with the articles in the StarAd. frequently), then this WND piece and the youtube vid are just a little misleading as to the significance of Abercrombie’s statement in the 1/18/11 StarAd. piece.
In the DailyMail 1/20. I do screenshots to preserve the content of the articles as they are at the time I read them. Some publications, like the StarAdvertiser for example, will scrub articles, or chance the content after publishing online. This article also refers to Ambercrumble mentioning the Dept. of Health :
And in the same interview Abercrombie suggested that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.
It appears that the StarAd. article may have indeed morphed before I had the chance to read it.
